Peter McIndoe, the 23-year-old creator of the viral Birds Aren’t Real movement, is ready to reveal what the effort is really about.

One of the funniest things that one has heard about recently, is a huge advertising campaign that is sweeping the United States of America currently entitled Birds Aren't Real. The campaign has thousands of supporters, and its huge outdoor ads are everywhere on the main road, and you will find millions of posts, and memes about it . The founder of the campaign is Peter McIndoe, who is 23 years old and he promotes a basic idea: the United States government in the fifties decided to kill more than 12 billion birds and replace them with Drones or mechanized birds equipped with cameras and microphones to spy on American citizens and monitor their every movement, every whisper and every detail of their lives! These birds recharge themselves by standing on electric wires.

Peter has appeared in dozens of TV and press interviews while speaking very seriously, his message being perfectly understandable to the young Internet audience Generation Z, and his true message through his “parody campaign” is revealing the fact of the ability of anyone to promote false ideas by working diligently to spread and confirm those ideas, to the extent that When some TV hosts ask him on the air: You told us before the air that this is a sarcastic campaign, he responds to them in a very serious manner consistent with his campaign: I didn't say that, you insulted my message, if I had said Birds Are Real, you would have been treated with more respect!

Peter and his campaign are part of creative out-of-the-box campaigns to resist populism and divisiveness in American (and generally global) society and to challenge the internet's superficiality with deep thought, research, and critical sensibility.

Here, you will find coverage by the New York Times about Peter and his campaign, and you will also find a very important television interview with him.
