I have a dear friend since childhood Since I was 6 or 7 years old Almost the first real friend I’ve ever met In the sense that he is almost the one who i knew the meaning of friendship through him I was talking to my sister about him the other day Telling her how we was able to enjoy our childhood lives through very small things Through the simplest things And about the “falafel” sandwiches I used to eat at my friend’s home Which we used to buy from a place near his house, and for us it was the joy of life That friend, he was the first person to read my short stories The first one every to give me his opinion That friend, we used to buy Majid and Aladdin magazines and spend long hours discussing every big and small details on them. That was before Internet, smart phones, and Facebook Our relationship was the true meaning of “social networking” He was a genius That genius which astonishing you His eyes were shining with a strange glint In the math class, when we had algebra and geometry problems Thirty students are crammed into the classroom, their brains out of work He was raising his hand, “I know professor, I know professor.” He solves the problem, in three different ways At school, he was the favorite student of Arabic teachers His way of expressing the words was amazing He uses the same geometric brilliance in weighing sentences The first time I know how to solve Quraan grammar it was from him First time I heard about a the new “Sakhr” computer it was from him First time I heard about French President Francois Mitterrand And his geo-strategic importance it was from him This friend passed away -suddenly- this morning I wish i could say good bye.
